They are beautiful Labbies. Pup looks a little Golden.

“These two were found on Hwy 42 just South of Jackson, GA this afternoon. The mother dog was wandering back and forth across the highway, very disoriented, and definitely NOT avoiding the traffic. The puppy was desperately trying to keep up with mom and was hit by ca car. We picked both up and took them to Jackson Veterinary Clinic. The puppy was unhurt except for a small cut on one of his ears. No collar or microchip was on either dog. The puppy is male and appears to be 7 to 8 weeks old. Mom is not old at all, and VERY sweet. Especially since she let me and my husband put her and her puppy in the back of my Jeep on the side of a VERY busy highway. They need to be placed as SOON as possible. I CANNOT pay the $20.00 a day to keep them at the clinic and I do NOT have anywhere else to keep them. The do not have fleas and appear to be well fed. I suspect they were dumped on the highway by someone whom could no longer take care of them, and, as all shelters are full, maybe felt they had no other choice. PLEASE HELP! She is a VERY friendly dog and the puppy is just adorable too. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!”

Little Charlie is packed & ready, but has no place to go (Hazlehurst, GA)

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

This is Charlie. He is just one of the many dogs at the Hazlehurst Animal Shelter in Southern Georgia. Charlie probably weights 30lbs, give or take, and has been out at the shelter for a while now. He spends most of his time up on top of his dog house, as to not get his paws dirty. Charlie & his cage mate Cody just had their pen moved recently, but prior to that they had a dirt floor. When ever we had rain, they found themselves walking around in mud all day long. Charlie is quite opposed to this, so much that even with the cage door wide open, he would hold tight to his spot on top of the dog house. I had to go in and literally pick him up and set him down outside the pen just to walk him! The shelter feels that he was, at one time, someone’s beloved pet… Before life at the shelter that is. No one has ever come to claim him, and though many people have looked in his direction, no one has offered to take him home.  Charlie is very sweet, but a touch more vocal than some of his shelter friends. He was one of the dogs shown this weekend at our Adoption event.  People walked by and though they all talked about just how cute he was as they patted him through the pen… It was still Not him that they chose for their family. “Another dog” was calmer, maybe had a sadder story, or wasn’t as talkative… So many reasons. But poor Charlie just didn’t understand, as he sat there so eagerly watching others find happiness & wondering why no one wanted him?

Of all the dogs we thought had the best chances for adoption, Charlie was at the top of that list. We were all just as dumbfounded as Charlie was when no applications came in for him.

As we loaded up the dogs to take back to the shelter that day, Charlie rode with me. He started out in the back seat but quickly decided that the best seat could be found up front in my lap! This guy is still waiting for the 2nd chance he so desperately needs & deserves, before it’s too late. The Hazlehurst Animal Shelter is a small shelter that is currently maxed out. The lady that works there is leaving soon… she has been the ONLY reason most of these shelter dogs are even still alive today! With her departure looming right around the corner, a list of dogs to be euthanized has already been created. Please help me save Charlie from that list.  His adoption fee is $65.00. Charlie is up to date on his shots & will be neutered before leaving the shelter. (All of which is included in the adoption fee.) Transport can be arranged up to the Atlanta area fairly easy for the right adopter or rescue group.

Thank you so much for your time & for cross posting.  Hopefully, together wecan save Charlie!

Message from nice man that found Gary:

I know I sent out an email about this guy a couple weeks ago, but he really needs a home. My house is FULL with 4 dogs, 5 cats, a 4 month old baby, and now this big guy. He is a GREAT dog! He’s completely housebroken, crate trained, very sweet with other dogs, and hasn’t chewed on anything he’s not supposed to. He’s really been a perfect foster dog. Attached are new pictures of him.

We found Gary sitting in the middle of Memorial Dr (literally). We stopped to see if we could get him and he ran straight up to me like we were long lost friends. Initially, Gary was unneutered and had a severe skin infection. Gary is now free of his skin infection, neutered, fully vetted, and heartworm negative. He is ready for a foster or permanent home. Please contact me at the information below for additional information.

Please send to your contacts to help find Gary the perfect home! Thanks!
